2010 Indianhead Sheep Breeders Scholarship Award

 

The Indianhead Sheep Breeders Association 2010 Scholarship recipient selected by its board of directors is Isaac Christenson of Amery, Wisconsin.  A check for $500 will be presented at the Indianhead Sheep Breeders Association 16th Annual Shepherd’s Clinic and Trade Show on February 6th in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.

 

Isaac is the son of ISBA members Kevin and Sally Christenson of Amery.  He is currently enrolled at the University of Wisconsin–River Falls College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences majoring in Biotechnology.  At UWRF he is involved as an Agricultural Society Member, Ag Ed Society officer, Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, LEAD leadership experience group, and the iRock first year experience program.  Isaac and his family have a flock of Hampshire, Dorset and crossbred sheep west of Amery.  He has been an active member in the ISBA and exhibited sheep at the Polk County Fair and Wisconsin State Fair for many years.  Isaac is a member of the Deronda Diplomats 4-H club where he served as President, Vice President, Treasurer and Reporter. He was an active member of the Amery FFA serving as President, Sentinel and Parliamentarian.  Other FFA achievements included being a member of the state winning Parliamentary Procedure Contest and being awarded the Chapter Silver Eagle Award, Star Chapter Greenhand, State Degree, and Star Agribusinessman.  He was a member of the Amery High School Student Council, Varsity Hockey team, Prom Court, Homecoming Court, Marching Band, Concert Band, Pep Band, Concert Choir, Jazz Band, Jazz Choir, and National Honor Society.  Isaac was active in his community serving in search and rescue for the Dresser-Osceola-Garfield Township Fire Dept., Amery Community Service Day, Adopt-A-Highway, Feed My Starving Children, Food for America, and the UWRF Blood Drive.  His career goal is to pursue a position in the agriscience field, remain involved in FFA and 4-H, and have his own sheep flock.
